It’s Awards Banquet Season!
It’s the end of the year, and many schools are celebrating their successful athletic programs with awards banquets. Awards banquets are a huge part of a young athlete’s career. Accomplishments that they work so hard to achieve should be recognized and celebrated. This is why it’s so important to choose the right venue to host your sports awards banquet. Here are a few tips for you to think about if you’re planning on hosting one this spring:
Decorate the theme in the team or school color. This should be a no-brainer. The Heights in Verona can help you pick out decorations that are appropriate for the event and the group. From decorations to linens, tablecloths, even lighting and draperies can all be changed out for the colors that you choose. Taking it a step further, you can also rely on our creative culinary staff to help choose foods that you can get creative with – from a salsa tray football field and more!
Don’t forget the reason you’re all there. The most important guests are the young athletes that are celebrating and being recognized for their achievements during the school year and/or sports season. Parents, coaches, etc all have a place to give speeches and be recognized themselves, but that should take second place to the student athletes themselves.
Make sure you appropriately showcase the athletes by showing highlight reels, letting the athletes themselves give speeches and even present awards. Purchase awards that are personalized if you are planning on giving out specific awards to individual athletes.
Remember to schedule tome time before and after the banquet itself for attendees to socialize. One of the most important aspects of being on a team is just that – being part of a team and getting to know your teammates. Hopefully, you’ve built a close-knit team that enjoys each other’s company. Allotting time to do what your attendees will want to do naturally will allow for a more engaged audience during the actual awards ceremony.
See if you can enlist the help of a booster club or local sports organization. Chances are, there’s a local organization either run through the school or locally through the community of people willing and able to help! Make sure you seek out any of these organizations to help make your banquet truly memorable!
